Immersive holographic projections using invisible scrims

Hologram scrim and roll-up system create magic

July 2024

JONES Theatrical Group presents the world’s first interactive magic show featuring famous magicians, breathtaking illusions and baffling hologram effects on highly transparent projection netting.

Invisible scrims and roll-up systems: magic from thin air

Uncover the secrets of magic during Metaverse of Magic, where not only the tricks on stage, but also the dazzling hologram effects on projection gauzes leave the audience spellbound. Using XL scrims and cutting-edge LED technology, the projected visuals seem to appear out of nowhere. This captivating effect is further enhanced by mounting a 12-meter-wide PepperScrim on a Venetia roll-up system, a groundbreaking combination in the entertainment world!

But quite challenging too, as hologram effects require transparency and roll-drop systems security. Luckily, the ShowTex sewing team and installers tackled this effortlessly with out-of-the-box solutions.

Masking fabrics add the finishing touch

By adding weight to the bottom of the projection surface, and black borders to the top of the net, the fabric always maintains the required tension and transparency, without tearing.

Not only here, but all over the stage, black fabrics also hide unwanted cabling and ambient lighting, to enrich the viewing experience.

Touring proof textiles

Apart from the stated challenges, the production had another crucial requirement for success: all stage fabrics had to be touring-proof. The ShowTex team carefully selected fabric solutions that are easy to install and detach. Moreover, the projection scrims are lightweight and remain crease-free when taken out of their flight case. Anything to keep the mystery alive!
