An impressive ceremony with 270-degree projections on ShowTex Rear projection screen launched the multi-million dollar Dubai Water Canal recently. The Canal will span three kilometers and is expected to attract 20 million visitors when it opens in 2017.
For the official ceremony presenting the project, ShowTex installed a 15m long tunnel covered in custom-finished RetroScreen Off-White. A professional light show by Prisme internationale transformed the tunnel into a walk through simulation of how the end result will look like, using 270° projections.
ShowTex also supplied a special High Contrast Grey projection screen and a 12 by 4 metres GiantMirror serving as a hologram. All adding up to the virtual experience.
Cubes covered in a special stretch projection surface displayed the future buildings near the canal, using pixel-mapped images of houses. This gave attendees a real life feel of walking along the shores of the Dubai Water Canal.
